This is Rajiv Kumar, a graduate in History, and creator of this website.
The idea to create this website (named studiescbse.in) was conceived while helping my son to prepare for his class 9 and 10 examination conducted by CBSE.
Going through the NCERT book is really an engaging tour to the subject matter along with its surrounding related facts. What caught my attention most was the ‘Foreword’ page of the NCERT books of CBSE, where they announce their philosophy, “content of the books should encourage children to reflect on their own learning and to pursue imaginative activities and questions.”
This triggered in me an urge to read these books line by line, and also in between the lines, so as to think and frame more such questions which align with this philosophy of NCERT, and cater to the need of students appearing for class 8, 9 and 10 examinations.
Study material present at this site actually supplements the study of prescribed NCERT text books. And it works well with students only when they have at least one reading, before hand, of the concerned chapter from the prescribed NCERT text book.
Study material at this website presents itself in question-answer format. The question framing in itself is a formidable task for it requires the complete understanding of the core of the concepts discussed in the book. Thus, the questions discussed here have following major features :
- After reading these questions and their answers, you will feel like having covered each and every paragraph of the chapter.
- Though the answers have become lengthy for the sake of better clarity ,you can downsize them as per your requirement; once you understand the essential ingredients.
- The questions automatically inculcate in you the ability to answer any new imaginative or opinion based question of humanities subjects.
- These answers along with various ‘notes,’ encompass all the information essential for solving MCQs and deciding True-False statements.
We have started initially from Social Science subjects (Political Science, Economics, History and Geography), and intend to gradually usher in to other subjects also.
